Kent Teen Internship Program

The Kent Chamber of Commerce participates in the City of Kent Teen Internship Program helping prepare youth for future employment.  The interns we have had with us throughout the years have been a huge benefit and we have enjoyed them immensely.

Jessica Kilpatrick

Flipping burgers or working I retail was not on my agenda to be my first job before I go off to college. I kept looking trying to find a job that I would really benefit from and I came across seeing the Teen Internship Program. I was really interested in finding more about it and before I knew it, I was interning at the Kent Chamber of Commerce.

Working at the chamber of Commerce has been an experience like no other that I have had. Doing things from answering the phones, going to meetings, and helping out at luncheons, I have been able to expand my experience that I can take with me not only to college but will help me with future situations. Also the Chamber has opened a door of new opportunities like meeting Lisa Voso, who I have met and talked with because I am interested in going into law. I have been able to use my knowledge and skills such as graphic design and communication to help with projects like the shop local campaign. I have learned so much from working here at the Chamber that allows me benefits that other people may not be able to gain. My time of being apart of the team and forming new relationships could not have been a more rewarding experience. I have never had a boring moment and they always keep me on my toes busy with work. After I leave, I do not see it as the end but just the beginning of more openings like this one for me down the road, and a big thank you to those who have made it possible for me at the Kent Chamber of Commerce.
